Obituary

Thomas "Tom" C. Colvin, 84, of Defiance, passed away on  Thursday, February 12, 2015 at CHP Defiance Inpatient Hospice Center of Defiance, Ohio.

He was born on April 7, 1930 to Lawrencestein and Edith (Olson) Colvin in West Warwick, Rhode Island. On March 1, 1958 he married Betty (Moore) Colvin, who survives.

Tom was a member of First Church of God since 1978, where he taught Sunday School for 40 years. Tom worked as a mail carrier with the US Postal Service from 1960 to 1988. He was in the Army from 1956-1955 and in the Merchant Marines from 1948 - 1953.
Tom enjoyed fishing, ministering as a Lay Pastor, and singing at local Nursing Homes.  He loved spending time with his grandkids.

Thomas is survived by his loving spouse of 57 years, wife, Betty Colvin of Defiance, children, Curtis Colvin of Raleigh, NC, Colleen (Doug) Goehler of Bryan, Ohio, and Craig (Nancy) Colvin of Delta, Ohio, Grandchildren, Kathryn (Todd) Armstrong, Ryan Goehler, Andrew Goehler, Nathan Colvin, Evan Colvin, and Seth Colvin, sister-in-law, Karen Pierce of Eveleth, MN.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrencestein and Edith Colvin, and brother, Bill Colvin.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 6:00 pm on Sunday, February 15, 2015, at Schaffer Funeral Home, Defiance, OH and one hour prior to the services at church. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, February 16, 2015, at the First Church of God in Defiance, with Pastor Rick Rufenacht and Pastor Larry Kennedy officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Memory Gardens.
