Thelma F. Hiler, 88, of Defiance, passed away on Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at her residence in Defiance.

She was born on July 5, 1928 to Edwin and Blanche (Bradford) Carnahan in Paulding County, Ohio. On February 23, 1946 she married the love of her life, Clifford N. Hiler, who preceded her in death on May 4, 1987.

Thelma was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Defiance. She worked as a cook for Northeastern (Tinora) Local School District for over 20 years. She loved cooking and baking cookies for her "Perfect Grandchildren". Her family meant everything to her.

Thelma will be greatly missed by her family; sons, Norman (Janis) Hiler, Edwin (Pat) Hiler, and Robert (Mary) Hiler, all of Defiance, daughters, Sue (Rick) Thompson of Sherwood, Ohio,and Debbie (Jack) Sautter of Columbus Grove, Ohio, 15 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren, sister, Helen Sohn, and sister-in-law Thelma Carnahan, both of Defiance.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Blanche and Edwin Carnahan, husband, Clifford N. Hiler, brother, Glen Carnahan, sisters, Ilene Delaney and Doris Carnahan, and grandsons, Daniel Moser and Justin Stegaman.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 8:00 pm on Sunday, August 7, 2016 at Schaffer Funeral Home, Defiance. Funeral services will be at 11:00 am on Monday, August 8, 2016 at Schaffer Funeral Home, with Rev. Judy Williams and Rev. David Noel officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery.
