Terrence "Terry" D Armbruster, 77, of Virginia Beach, VA. passed away on Friday, January 31, 2014 in Virginia Beach.
He was born on May 9, 1936 to Donald and Maxine (Harrig) Armbruster in Akron, OH. In 1956 he married Mary Ann (McCann) Armbruster and she passed away in 1996.
Terry was a Marine Engineer with the US Navy and served as Master Chief Petty Officer retiring in 1985. He was a member of VFW Post 3360 and a former member of the Defiance Elks, Defiance American Legion and the Napoleon American Legion. He was a fan of Ohio State and a Cleveland Indians Fan.
Terry is survived by his sons, Terrence (Denise) Armbruster II of Virginia Beach, VA, Douglas Armbruster of Virginia Beach, VA, daughters, Theresa (Larry) Duerk of Defiance, OH, Janice (Richard) Leach of Defiance, OH, Cindy (Troy) Cooley of Montpelier, OH, 12 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, brothers, Donald (Pat) Armbruster of Suffield, OH, Robert (Judy) Armbruster of Simpsonville, SC, Ronald (Suzy) Armbruster of Warren, OH, Louis (Linda) Armbruster of Norton, OH, sisters, Mary Alice (Larry) Kollar of Akron, OH, and Ann (Jerry) Bisheimer of Akron, OH.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Mary Ann, brothers, August Armbruster, Tom Armbruster, Richard Armbruster, daughers, Patricia & Mary Rita Armbruster.
Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Monday, February 10, 2014 at Schaffer Funeral Home, Defiance, Ohio.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11: 00 a.m. Tuesday, February 11, 2014, at St. John's Catholic Church, Defiance, with Father Todd Dominique, and Father Thomas J. McCann, officiating.
Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery with military rites being accorded by VFW Post 3360.
The family suggest memorials be made to Hospice of Defiance, and Hospice of Virginia Beach as well as to St. John's Catholic Church.
