Sue E. "Suzie" Smith, age 77 of Defiance, passed away on Monday, August 7, 2023 at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center in Toledo, Ohio. She was born in Defiance, Ohio on March 1, 1946 to the late Mack and Millie (Horsey) Cornwell. On July 24, 1965 she married Larry Smith, who survives. Sue was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Being with her family was always her priority. She enjoyed crocheting, reading and camping. Sue will be sadly missed by her loving husband of 58 years, Larry Smith of Defiance, her daughters, Angie Weirauch of Napoleon, OH and Tammara (Correy) Olivo of Defiance, five grandchildren; Andrea Weirauch, Kirsten Weirauch, Noah Olivo, Correy Olivo and Zoey Olivo, her sister, Sherri Shock, and her niece, Tena Shock. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mack and Millie Cornwell, and her infant son, Jay W. Smith. All services for Sue will be private. Schaffer Funeral Home was honored to assist the family with arrangements. Memorials are suggested to American Heart Association, or Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
