Stuart Allen Owens, Sr., 74, of Sherwood, passed away on  Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at St. Vincent's Mercy Medical Center.

He was born on January 31, 1940 to John and Ample (Skeens) Owens in Grundy, VA.

Stuart served in the US Army.  He  retired from General Motors Powertrain and was a member of UAW Local #211.  Stuart liked to play guitar, shoot pool and work on cars..

Stuart is survived by his childen, Dale McGlothin of Grundy, VA, Debbie Jones of Thomasville, NC, Sharon Helms of Thomasville, NC, Cathy Osborne of High Point, NC, Anna Gonzales -Medrana of Lexington, NC, Linda Owens of Sherwood, OH, Bobbie Jo Moore of Lexington, NC, Stuart Owens Jr. of Sherwood, OH, Priscella Santos of Defiance, OH, Austin Owens of Sherwood, OH, 16 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, siblings, Fayette Ratliff of VA, John Owens Jr. of MD, Lucille Owens of VA, Robert Owens of VA. and  James Owens of VA.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Mary Lou Owens and brothers, Thomas, Godfrey, & Bobby Owens.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 21, 2014 at Schaffer Funeral Home, Defiance, Ohio.  Funeral services will be held immediately at 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 21, 2014, at the funeral home with  Pastor Timothy G Reynolds officiating.
