Sophia Froelich, age 68, of Belleville, MI, passed away Monday, January 19, 2015 at Regency of Canton, Canton, MI. She was born September 14, 1946 in Germany, daughter of Gerhard & Helena (Powella) Pietrykowski. She moved to the United States with her family after World War II.
Sophia is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 47 years, Charles L. Froelich. She is also survived by two brothers Ed (Dorothy) Pietrykowski of Ohio and Gabe (Debbie) Pietrykowski of Bryon, Ohio, also many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Mrs. Froelich was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, Belleville. She retired from Ford Motor Company after 30 years as an accountant, at both the Rawsonville Road and Ypsilanti plants. She was a member of the Michigan Treasure Hunters and the Silver Seekers Clubs. She enjoyed sewing, scrap booking and traveling with her girlfriends.
Visitation will be 3-8 PM Thursday with a 7:00 PM Scripture service at David C. Brown Funeral Home, 460 E. Huron River Dr., Belleville, MI 48111 (734)697-4500. Funeral Mass will be held Friday, January 23, 2015 at 11:00 AM at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 409 W. Columbia Ave., Belleville, MI with visitation 10-11 AM. Father Thomas H. Cusick will serve as Celebrant. A private interment will be held at Riverside Cemetery, Defiance, Ohio. Interment services by Lawson-Roessner Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society and would be greatly appreciated.
