Sidney A Johnson, 70, of Defiance, passed away on  Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at the Brookview Healthcare Center, Defiance, OH.  He was born on July 16, 1942 to Charles and Frances (Stacy) Johnson in Hillsboro, KY. In 2006 he married Cheryl Emerling (together 35 years) and she passed away in 2012.

Sidney retired from GM Powertrain in 2006 after 43 years of service. He enjoyed working on cars and going to Tom's Donuts.  He was also an avid coon hunter..

Sidney is survived by his sons, Scott Johnson of Defiance, Steven Johnson of Defiance, Todd Johnson of Defiance, Timothy Johnson of Defiance, daughters, Dawn Perez of Defiance, Lisa Smith of Defiance, Holly Emerling of Defiance, Tina Johnson of Defiance, 14 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, special friends of 54 years, Mr. & Mrs. Robert Johnson, sisters, Elsie McClanahan of Hillsboro, KY, Geraldine "Judy" (Scoby) McClanahan of Hillsboro, KY,  Evangeline "Van" Donahue of Morehead, KY, and Evelena Mayse of Morehead, KY.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Cheryl, brothers, Harry Johnson & Charles Johnson, Jr., sister, Audrey Johnson in infancy, and grandsons, Todd, Jr & Hunter Johnson.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, March 25, 2013, 2:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home with Rev. Perry Porter officiating.  Burial will follow in Evansport Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Sunday, March 24, 2013 at the funeral home.
