Shirley C. Moon, age 89 of Archbold, peacefully passed away on Friday morning, June 21, 2024 at Fairlawn Haven in Archbold, Ohio. She was born to the late Victor and Verda Potter in Barberton, Ohio on March 16, 1935. Shirley proudly earned her degree from Ohio University in 1957. On August 21, 1959 she married Allyn Moon, who preceded her in death on March 31, 2012.

Shirley was a faithful member of Trinity United Methodist Church. Her deep-rooted faith was a guiding force in her life. She enjoyed her time spent at home raising her children in their younger years. She then worked as a secretary at City Beverage in Defiance. Shirley had a beautiful music box collection, was passionate about art and painting, and was a part-time art teacher for Defiance City Schools. She loved the movie "Gone With The Wind" and enjoyed shopping and playing Bridge. Shirley was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother, and will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Shirley is survived by her loving children, Erik (Miki) Moon of Wauseon, OH, Mark (Julie) Moon of Toledo, OH, and Nora (Dan) Youngers of Strongsville, OH. She was extremely proud of her children and their accomplishments. She also leaves behind five grandsons, Cory Moon, Kyle (Brooke) Moon, Connor (Abby) Moon, Jakob Moon and Owen Youngers, who were so dear to her heart. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Allyn Moon, and her brothers. Visitation will be held on Friday, June 28, 2024 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance, Ohio. A Memorial Service will follow at 6:00 pm at the funeral home, with Pastor Steve Heilshorn officiating. Shirley will be laid to rest at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, Ohio.
