Shirley L. Asher, age 87 of Defiance, peacefully passed away with her family by her side on Friday, June 24, 2022 at CHP Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center. She was born on April 29, 1935 to the late William and Imogene (Durr) Keller in Upper Sandusky, Ohio. She was married for several years to D. Matt Asher, who preceded her in death. Shirley was a faithful member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Defiance. She was past President of Defiance Regional Medical Center Auxiliary, and loved her time spent with her friends in her Bridge Club. She was a past Girl Scout Leader and former Eastern Star member. Shirley was a loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother. She was an excellent cook and she loved crocheting and traveling. Shirley will be sadly missed by her daughter, Tamara (John B. Jr.) Wirick of Defiance, her son, Matt (LuAnn) Asher of Monclova, OH, 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, and her son-in-law, Dan Wareham of Defiance. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two daughters, Kim Gilmore and Tracy Wareham, and son-in-law, Ron Gilmore. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 29, 2022 from 2:00 to 8:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 30, 2022 at 11:00 am at Schaffer Funeral Home, with Rev. David Brobston officiating. Memorials are suggested to CHP Defiance Area Hospice Center.
