Shirley T. Scott, 74, of Defiance, passed away on  March 25, 2015 at her home after a short battle with cancer.

Shirley was born in Hamilton, Alabama on June 20, 1940 to Melvin and Ethel (Miller) Colburn. She retired from Campbell Soup Company. Shirley and her husband J.D. were Recreational Chairmen for 40 years with Easter Seals / D.A.S.H.  Her passion was her family and friends. She enjoyed sitting at the table during the daylight hours watching the deer and feeding the birds.

She is survived by her son, Randy J.D. Scott, daughters; Sharon (Terry) Gambler and Teresa Wright, all of Defiance, grandchildren; Joshua Wright, Jeremy Wright, Alisha Scott, Kip Hauser, Tasha (Hauser) Caldwell, and 5 great-grandchildren, brothers; George Colburn of Defiance and William Colburn of Hamilton, Alabama.

Shirley is preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Ethel Colburn, husband, J.D. Scott, 8 brothers and 3 sisters.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 8:00 pm on Friday, March 27, 2015 at Schaffer Funeral Home, Defiance. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, March 28, 2015, at the funeral home, with Pastor Max Begley officiating. Burial will be in Hamilton, Alabama.
