Sharon M. VanVlerah, age 75 of Bryan, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, April 14, 2026 at Fountain Park in Bryan. She was born in Wauseon, Ohio on June 7, 1950 to the late Harold and Patricia (Harvey) Hayden. On February 16, 1978 she married Leo "Lee" VanVlerah who preceded her in death on May 3, 2018. Sharon worked for Johns Manville for 31 years until her retirement in 2003. Over the years she enjoyed camping in Michigan with her husband. Sharon was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Sharon is survived by her sons, Stephan (Tamara) VanVlerah of Payne, OH, and Scott (Stephanie) VanVlerah of Defiance, daughters, Melanie Sucher of Perrysburg, OH, Michelle (Bill) Brackenbury of Bryan, and Patricia (Kevin) Gillett of Texas, 15 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and her sisters, Debbie Lehman and Laura Thiel, both of Michigan. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Lee VanVlerah, brothers, Butch Hayden and Michael Hayden, and grandson, Alex P. Bevins. Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2026 from 12:00 to 2:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm at the funeral home with Celebrant Deb Miller officiating. Sharon will be laid to rest in Riverside Cemetery.
