Obituary

Scott A. Sharman, Jr., 90 , of  Defiance, passed away on  Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at Twin Rivers Care and Rehabilitation Center in Defiance.

He was born on June 17, 1926 to Viola (Kettner) and Scott Sharman, Sr. in Warren, Pennsylvania. Scott served our country in the U.S. Navy  as a Signalman during WWII, and was one of the men to plant the flag at Hiroshima. On June 13, 1948 he married Lela (Switzer) Sharman, who preceded him in death on October 7, 2015.

Scott was a member of Defiance VFW Post #3360. He was a route supervisor and made deliveries for Defiance Dairy, City Beverage Co., and NAPA Auto Parts.

Scott  will be sadly missed by his son, Dennis Sharman of Defiance, grandsons, Jermy Sharman of Defiance, and Jason Sharman of Texas, brother, Dick Sharman of Texas, and sister, Joan (Bert) Riches of Swanton.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Lela Sharman, and three sisters.

Visitation will be held from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 pm on Sunday, May 21, 2017 at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. Funeral services will be held at Schaffer Funeral Home on Monday, May 22, 2017 at 1:00 pm, with Pastor Rosene Moseley officiating. Burial will follow the service at Riverside Cemetery, where military rites will be accorded by VFW #3360.
