Saundra K. Mason, age 80 of Defiance, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 10, 2022 at CHP Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center with her family by her side. She was born on December 23, 1941 to the late Walter and Delsa (Wagner) Niec in Flint, Michigan. On September 29, 1962 she married John Mason, who survives. Saundra was a member of St. John Catholic Church. She worked in the deli at Chief Supermarket, but enjoyed several years with her family as a homemaker. She enjoyed reading, sewing, and traveling to Myrtle Beach during the winter months. She treasured her time spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Saundra will be greatly missed by her loving husband, John Mason of Defiance, and her children; Delsa Fisher of Cincinnati, OH, William Mason of Lyman, SC, and  Sarah (Brian) Barratt of Midland, MI, seven grandchildren; Payne (Lauren) Fisher, Bryce Fisher, Cole Mason, Joshua (Shelbie) Barratt, Jessica Barratt, Caleb Barratt and Ethan Barratt, three great-grandchildren; Bailey Fisher, Michael Barratt and Mason Barratt, and her brothers, David (Gayle) Niec of Flushing, MI, and Robert (Dawn) Niec of Chesaning, MI. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her son, John Mason II. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 14, 2022 from 10-11 am at St. John Catholic Church in Defiance. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 am at the church, with Fr. David Cirata officiating. Burial will follow the service at Riverside Cemetery.
