Santos G. Bentancur, Sr. Santos G. Bentancur, Sr., 81, of Defiance, Oh , entered into God's eternal care at 8:25 a.m. , Saturday, February 25th, 2017 at CHP Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center. He was born in Rosenburg, Texas on July 26, 1935, he was the son of the late Patricia (Bocanegra) Bentancur. He served in the U.S. Army from 1958 - 1960. He moved to Defiance in 1960. Santos was the widower of Antonia (Lozano) Bentancur. They were married December 22, 1958 and she died August 31, 2015. He had worked at GM Central Foundry for over 40 years retiring in 1989. He enjoyed working on cars, his house and dining out. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, great grandchildren, friends and family. Santos will be greatly missed by daughters: Antonia (Jerry) McGuire of Defiance, Annette (Lee Miles) Rupert of Lima, Franchesca (Anthony) Maurer of Austin, TX, Xan (Timothy Reynolds) Bentancur of Defiance son: Isaac Bentancur of New Orleans, brother: Fermin (Janie) Bentancur of Holgate. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by his wife Antonia and a son Santos Bentancur Jr. A Celebration of Going Home services will be at the Lawson-Roessner Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 28th, with Pastor Paul Valdez officiating. Visitation is Monday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Lawson-Roessner. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery where VFW Post #3360 will conduct honorary graveside rites.
