Sandy S. Potter Sandra S. Potter, 70, of Defiance passed away Tuesday, December 27th, 2011 at University of Michigan Medical Center at Ann Arbor . She was born in Fremont, Ohio on May 22, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Forest and Violet (Schneider) Damschroder. Sandy was a very active member of St. John Catholic Church throughout the years, where she served as a First Communion instructor and a memer of the RCIA team, made baptismal gowns, and provided service in many other ways. She volunteered at the CPC Women's Health Resource Center and was involved with NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness). Sandy also was a mentor a Defiance City Schools. A 1959 graduate of Fremont Ross High School, Sandy married Edward Potter on June 3, 1961 and he survives. They celebrated 50 years of marriage this year. Besides her loving husband Ed, surviving are four sons: Brian Potter of Defiance, Matthew Potter and his fiancé Melanie Cromwell of Grand Rapids, Mich. Dan (Deb) Potter of Defiance, Shane (Shelby) Potter of Chicago, IL. a daughter Ann (Bob) Fishpaw of Defiance two brothers: Robert (Joyce) Damschroder of Ann Arbor, Mich. Galen (Kathy) Damschroder of Vickery, Ohio a sister Pat (Dell) Schell of Matthews, North Carolina., seven grandchildren: Dayna and Dylan Potter, Finley and Aubrey Potter, Brady, Lucas and Karlee Fishpaw. These children and grandchildren gave Sandy much comfort and joy. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at at St. John Catholic Church, Defiance, at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 31st, with Father Todd Dominique officiating. Friends are invited to call Friday 2-8 at Lawson-Roessner Funeral Home with a vigil service at 8:00 p.m. Visitation is also Saturday 10-11 a.m. at St. John Catholic Church. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. The family suggests memorials to the CPC Women's Health Resource Center or NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness).
