Shallus "Sam" Beatty, Jr., 75, of Defiance, peacefully passed away on Saturday, September  9, 2017 at Twin Rivers Care and Rehabilitation Center in Defiance.

He was born on August 20, 1942 to  Florence (Rosborough) and Shallus Beattty, Sr. in Cleveland, Ohio. Shallus worked for over 34 years at General Motors in Defiance, retiring on August 1, 1998. He enjoyed NASCAR, motorcycles, he was a huge fan of the San Francisco 49ers, and he loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Shallus is survived by his daughters, Samantha (Josh) Ludwig, Brenda Carlin, and  Joy (Tim) Rector, sons, Shallus Beatty, Robert Beatty, and Richard Beatty, sisters, Mary Ellen Brogan, and Elizabeth (Dan) Adkins, ex-wife, Caroline Beatty, and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, William Beatty and James Beatty.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Thursday, September 14, 2017 at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home, with Deb Miller officiating. Burial will follow the service at Riverside Cemetery.
