Ruth H. Ross Ruth H. Ross, 98, of Defiance, passed away Sunday, July 25th, 2010 at Mercy Hospital - Defiance. She was born in Henry County, Ohio on July 2, 1912, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Elizabeth (Eberle) Engelmann. Ruth was a lifetime member and the oldest member of St. John United Church of Christ . She married Arl Ross on April 19, 1931 and he died on March 11, 1999. She had worked as a clerk at Murphy's for 15 years. Ruth was a strong women who helped her family in many ways. She would say - take what life gives you and don't run away. Be strong. Surviving are a brother: Sylvester (Sylvia) Engelmann of Ft. Wayne and nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by three sisters: Edna Wolf, Irene Stork, and Lydia Bennett. Three brothers: Andrew, Willis, and Paul Engelmann. Services at St. John United Church of Christ, at 11:00 A:M on Wednesday, July 28th, with Rev. Dr. William Nirote officiating. Friends are invited to call Tuesday 2-4 & 6-8 at Lawson-Roessner Funeral Home and Wednesday 10-11 at the church. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.
