Ruth E. Phillips Ruth E. Phillips, age 96, of Defiance, Oh , passed away at 2:50 P:M , Thursday, October 9th, 2008 at Defiance Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Phillips was born in Toledo, Ohio on December 17, 1911, she was the daughter of the late Leo F. and Margaret (Ziegler) Serrick. She was a member of St. John Catholic Church in Defiance. She was the widow of Richard G. Phillips who died March 5, 1983. She was the secretary/treasurer of the Phillips Plating Co. Member of the Kettenring Club, Salmagundi Club, Friends of the Defiance Library, and Altar & Rosary Society. She attended Notre Dame Academy, Defiance High School, and St. John's Business School. Surviving are a Daughter: Mary Kay (Michael) Maxwell of East Greenbush, N.Y. a Son: Dr. Richard J.L.(Susan) Phillips of Bloomfield Hills, Mich. Brother: Robert Serrick of Defiance, Oh She is also survived by 5 grandchildren, and 1 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband, parents and three sisters - M. Dorothy Hendricks, Jeanne Stenger and Helen Ritchie. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at at St. John Catholic Church, Defiance, Oh. at 12:00 Noon on Monday, October 13th, with Father Dave Tscherne officiating. Friends are invited to call Sunday 6-8 at Lawson-Roessner Funeral Home where there will be a 8:00 P:M Vigil Service Sunday. Mausoleum Encryptment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Defiance, Oh.
