Obituary

Ruth A Troyer, 83, of Defiance, passed away on  Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at CHP Defiance Area In-Patient Hospice Center.

She was born on February 7, 1930 to the late Carl and Cloe (Herr) Nelson in Findlay.   On June 15, 1947, she married Norman D. Troyer and he preceded her in death on November 30, 1987.

Ruth was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. She graduated from Continental High School in 1947.  She enjoyed helping Norman on the farm until she went back to college receiving a Bachelor's Degree in Education and a Master's Degree in Special Education from Bowling Green State University. She moved to Defiance in 1976.  Ruth was a Learning Disabilities Supervisor in the City and County Schools retiring in 1990.  She collected angels, enjoyed reading and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Ruth is survived by her son, Michael Troyer of Continental,  daughters, Cindy (Steve) Kreider of Defiance, Angie Fielder of Saline, MI, son-in-law, Robert Arreguin of Saline, MI, 9 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and step-brother, Donald (Marge) Fuller of Continental.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Norman,  step-father, Aden Fuller, daughter, Jackie Arreguin, son-in-law, Jim Fielder, step-brothers, Robert & Raymond Fuller and 1 great grandchild.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 28, 2013, at  Schaffer Funeral Home with Rev. Eric Peltz officiating.  Burial will follow in Monroe Township Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 2-8 p.m. Sunday, May 26, 2013 at the funeral home.

The family suggest memorials be made to CHP Defiance Area In-Patient Hospice Center or to First Presbyterian Church.
