Russell G. Wichman Russell G. Wichman, 81, of Defiance, passed away Friday, January 26th, 2018 in his home. He was born in Defiance County on May 25, 1936. He was the son of the late Alvin and Caroline (Rothbart) Wichman. Russell was a lifetime resident of Defiance County, a 1954 graduate of Jewel High School and had served in the National Guard. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church Choir and a past member of the Northwesternaires. He retired from General Motors in 1998 after 44 years. On May 25, 1963 he married Emily (Crow) Wichman, in Van Wert. Russell is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Emily, loving daughters: Tammy Hall of Defiance, Tina Royal of Indianapolis, son: Rodney (Tonya) Wichman of Defiance, sister in laws: DiAnn Wichman of Defiance and Susan Shock of Defiance, beloved grandchildren: Nicholas (Taryn) Wichman, Marissa Royal, Nathaniel (Holly) Wichman, Angela (Josh) Armstrong, Daniel (Elise) Royal, Natalie Wichman and 3 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers: Gerald Wichman and Gilbert Wichman. Services will be at St. John Lutheran Church at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 29th, with Rev. Donald Luhring officiating. Visitation is Sunday 2-8 p.m. at the Lawson-Roessner Funeral Home 1753 S. Clinton St. Defiance and Monday 10-11 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church.
