Ronald L. Martie, 62, of Defiance, passed away unexpectedly on  Friday November 4, 2016 at his residence.

He was born on October 8, 1954 to Lawrence and Delores (Brunson) Martie in Lodi Ohio.  On November 27, 1980 he Married Kathy Nihiser and she survives.  Ron worked as a machinist for SK Hand Tool in Defiance for 13 years before retiring.  He collected eagle statues, was an avid Ohio State Buckeyes fan, liked playing on his ipad and going fishing. Ron also enjoyed spending time with his K-9 companions Daisy, Princess, and Cocoa.  He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and his great granddaughter.

Ronald is survived by his loving wife of 35 years Kathy Martie of Defiance, daughters, Chris (Jerry) Eitniear of Tennessee, Sandy Martie of Defiance, Jessica (Scott) Wilson of Edon, grandchildren Ashley Martie, Austin and Marisa Eitniear and Xavier Martinez., great granddaughter Leilani Martie, step-grandchildren Jr. Wilson, Destiny Wilson, sisters Sandy Fitch of Defiance, and Sharon Waters of Burbank, Ohio, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a nephew, Roger Heath.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 8, 2016 from 2:00 - 4:00 pm & 6:00 - 8:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance where funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 9, 2016, at 1:00 pm.  Burial will follow at Riverview Memory Gardens.
