Roger Dale Bartley, age 78 of Defiance, passed away at home surrounded by his loved ones on Monday, June 22, 2026.

He was born in Pikeville, Kentucky on February 17, 1948 to the late Orville and Dolores (Clevenger) Bartley. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. On March 12, 1969 he married Carol Shearin, who survives.

Roger was a member of Defiance VFW #3360 and a former member of Eagles #372. He worked for several years at Defiance Precision Products until his retirement. Roger enjoyed mud bogging in his younger years. He played in two different pool leagues, loved tinkering with tractors, and he loved animals, especially his horses, dogs and cats. Roger was a dedicated and caring husband, father and grandfather who treasured his time spent with his family.

Roger is survived by his loving wife, Carol Bartley of Defiance, OH, his son, Niel De Marino of Warwick, NY, daughter, Shonda Estle of Paulding, and his grandson, Tyson Estle of Chicago, IL. He also leaves behind his brothers, Jerry Bartley of Kentucky, and Orville Bartley Jr. of Continental, OH.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert, Otis, Howard and James Bartley.

There will be no services. Schaffer Funeral Home was honored to assist the family with arrangements.
