Rodolfo "Rudy" Sierra, age 70, formerly of Defiance, passed away on Monday, October 30, 2023 at his residence in Toledo, Ohio. He was born on July 15, 1953 to the late Alfredo Palma and Oralia (Munoz) Sierra  in Napoleon, Ohio. Rudy proudly earned his Bachelor's Degree from Defiance College and his Master's Degree from San Antonio College. He was First Lieutenant in the U.S. Marine Corps. Rudy was a former member of St. John Catholic Church in Defiance. He loved spending time with his family. His leisure time was spent watching the Chicago Bears, playing music, walleye fishing on Lake Erie, and watching old movies on DVDs. He will be deeply missed by his family and many good friends. Rudy is survived by four brothers, Ed Sierra, Joe Sierra, Santiago Orta and Daniel Orta, two sisters, Juanita Zapien and Christina Orta, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfredo and Oralia Sierra, four brothers and one sister. Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 11, 2023 from 9:00 am to 11:00 am at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. A Memorial service to celebrate his life will follow at 11:00 am at the funeral home, with Deacon Mark Homier officiating. Memorials are suggested to Diabetes Foundation.
