Roberto "Bob" Gonzalez Alvarez, 51, of Sherwood, passed away unexpectedly on  January 7, 2014 at his residence.

He was born on July 7, 1962 to Saul and Alicia (Gonzales) Alvarez in Nassawadox, VA. Bob worked as a supervisor for Time Warner Cable for over 22 years. On January 19, 1985 he married Sue Waggoner. Bob and Sue lived in Sherwood, Ohio.

Bob is survived by his loving spouse of 28 years Sue of Sherwood, OH, mother, Alicia Gonzalez of Van Wert, OH, sons, Nicholas (Allyssa) Alvarez of Hicksville, OH, Jordan Alvarez of Chicago, IL, Logan Alvarez of Sherwood, OH, granddaughter, Meredith Alvarez, brothers, Armondo (Diane) Alvarez of Van Wert, OH, Saul Jr (Lori) Alvarez of Lugoff, SC, Daniel Alvarez of Van Wert, OH.

He was preceded in death by father, Saul Alvarez.

Visitation will be held Sunday, January 12, 2014 2:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home, Inc., Defiance, Ohio.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 13, 2014, at 11:00 am at the Sherwood United Methodist Church, with Pastor Kevin Doseck officiating.

Cremation will follow the services.
