March 18, 1942 – May 9, 2025
Robert W. Warncke, age 83 of Defiance, passed away on Friday, May 9, 2025 surrounded by his loved ones at CHP Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center. He was born on March 18, 1942 to the late Alvin Sr. and Emma (Michaelis) Warncke in Napoleon, Ohio. Robert was a graduate of Defiance High School and earned his Associate's Degree from International Business College in Fort Wayne, Indiana. On February 10, 1962 he married Bonnie Holman who survives. Robert was a faithful member of St. John Lutheran Church. He worked over 40 years at Johns Manville until his retirement. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, playing cards, traveling and casinos. He was a huge fan of baseball and football, cheering on the Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Indians, and The Ohio State Buckeyes. Robert loved his family and was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. He will be greatly missed by his family and many good friends. Robert is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Bonnie Warncke of Defiance, his sons, Rory Warncke of Franklin, IN, Darby (Jen) Warncke of Archbold, OH, and Andrew (Mara) Warncke of Loveland, OH, and his daughter, Gabrielle Warncke of Miamisburg, OH. He also leaves behind five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, his brother, Timmy Warncke of Defiance, and sister, Roxanne Gaeth of Naperville, IL. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Alvin Warncke, Jr. and Tommy Warncke. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 15, 2025 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at St. John Lutheran Church in Defiance. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm at the church with Pastor Kurt Mews officiating. Robert will be laid to rest in Riverview Memory Gardens.
