Robert D. Schindler, 85, of Bryan, passed away on Monday, September 28, 2015 at his residence. He was born on November 18, 1929 to Edward and Irene  (Batt) Schindler in Defiance County. In 1950 he married Kathryn (Hahn) Schindler at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Defiance. Kathryn resides in Bryan, Ohio. Robert was a member of  St. Isadore Catholic Church, Marysdale, and a member of the men's choir. He was a farmer, which was his life long passion. Robert was on the Board of Directors of the Ney Elevator. He enjoyed helping his family and friends, and he loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Robert is survived by his loving spouse of 65 years, wife Kathryn Schindler of Bryan, son, Daniel (Rebecca Stork) Schindler of Ney, daughter, Constance Schindler of Lotto, Indiana,  3 Gradchildren; Nathan (Chris) Schindler, Brandon (Toni) Schindler, and Scott (Laura) Schindler, 8 Great-grandchildren; Riley, Cameron, Cole, Lane, Lila, Noah,Olivia, and Eli Schindler, brother, Cletus (Rebecca) Schindler of Liberty Center, sisters, Madonna (Lawrence) Brenner of Stryker,  Mary Belle Timbrook of Hicksville, Janice (Bob) Neiling of Deshler, and Alma Jean Ewers of Bryan. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Irene Schindler, daughter, Cynthia Ann Schindler, brothers, Francis and Richard Schindler, and sister, Bernadette Sheets. Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 8:00 pm on Thursday, October 1, 2015 at Schaffer Funeral Home, Defiance, Ohio, with a Vigil Service at 6:00 pm at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, October 2, 2015 at St. Isadore Catholic Church, Marysdale, with Father Robert Kill, officiating. Burial will  follow at St. Isadore Catholic Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to St. Isadore Catholic Church
