Robert E. Schaffer, 74, of Cecil, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, August 22, 2024 at Vancrest of Van Wert. He was born on December 30, 1949 to Donald and Margaret (Miller) Schaffer in Defiance, Ohio. On February 26, 1972 he married Pamela Rath who preceded him in death on May 30, 1996. Bob worked at General Motors for several years until his retirement in 2010. He loved racing, playing pool, archery, woodworking and fishing. He enjoyed spending time with family. Robert is survived by his son, Gary (Krystal) Schaffer of Cecil, three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind his siblings, Judy (Bill) Ranes of Antwerp, Pamela (Rick) Spangler of Bryan, James Schaffer of Paulding, George (Ronda) Schaffer of Hicksville, and Christopher (Patty) Schaffer of Defiance. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife Pamela Schaffer. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 4, 2024 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. A Memorial Service will immediately follow at 12:00 officiated by George Schaffer. Bob will be laid to rest at Riverview Memory Gardens. Memorials are suggested to St. Jude Children's Hospital, or to a charity of the donor's choice.
