Obituary

Robert “Bob” Rohn was the most warmhearted man with the “fieryest” personality was welcomed with open arms into Heaven. He walked on the golden streets on October 26, 2026, with a straight back and free of pain where he will rest where God knows his name.

He was born to Harvey and Ruth (Greene) Rohn on March 24, 1941, in Bellefontaine, Ohio.

He is survived by his wife, Karen, who has faithfully been by his side since June 11, 1966; his cherished daughters, Cindy (Chip) Bailey of Heath, Ohio, and Kris (Chris Schaffer) Rohn of Ayersville, Ohio; his grandchildren, Anthony (Eliza) Rohn of Nelsonville, Ohio (who he loved like a son), Conner (Brooklyn) Bailey of Erie, Pennsylvania, Caleb (Grace) Bailey of Newark, Ohio, Dominic (Katrina) Johnson Grover Hill, Ohio (who was like a son to him), Curt (Lily) Bailey of Newark, Ohio, and Alyssa (Cameron Wonders) of Ayersville, Ohio.

He was preceded by his parents and a brother in infancy.

He graduated from Ayersville High School in 1959 where he was part of the 1957 State Championship basketball team. He was a full-time fire fighter/EMT at Defiance until his retirement in 1991. He ran as a volunteer firefighter/EMT on Highland Township for 50 years where he was a past Chief. He enjoyed working with the children as he drove bus for the Ayersville Local School. Bob also worked for Lynn Davis, where he ran a backhoe installing field drainage. He continued working on the family farm until 2012. His groundhog count was unbeatable.

In his spare time, he loved the outdoors, feeling close to God as he basked in His creation through hunting, fishing, boating, waterskiing, snowmobiling, and camping. At his core was his faith which deepened greatly over the years. His greatest heart’s desire would be to make sure that all those he loved would meet him in heaven at their appointed time.

Visitation will be held at North Mount Zion Church on Thursday, October 29, 2026, from 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm including the Fire Fighter Last Call. A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 30, 2026, at the church at 11:00 am with visitation one hour prior. Schaffer Funeral Home was honored to assist the family with arrangements.

Memorial contributions can be made to CHP Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center, who upheld his dignity to the very end or to North Mount Zion Church, Continental Ohio.
