Robert A. Plassman, 61, of Defiance, passed away on May 24, 2015 at the CHP Hospice Inpatient Center in Defiance, OH with his family by his side.
He was born on October 19, 1953 to Alfred and Luella (Panning) Plassman in Napoleon, OH. He graduated from Napoleon High School in 1972 and then attended Ohio University, graduating in 1976. Robert worked as a Hearing Instrument Specialist for Defiance Hearing Aid Center INC. On September 6, 1975 he married Nancy Mehring. Robert and Nancy lived in Defiance, Ohio.
Robert was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and served in the choir, on the audio/visual team, taught Sunday School, as an usher, and on the Council. He was also a member of the Ohio University Alumni Association.
Robert was very creative and played many instruments. He shared his love of music and technology with his children by teaching them how to record music and video. In the 70's & 80's, he also played Mandolin in the bluegrass band the Back Door Four.
Robert is survived by his loving spouse of 39 years, Nancy Plassman of Defiance, OH, son, Andrew Plassman of South Jordan, UT, son, Matthew Plassman of Los Angeles, CA, daughter, Emily Plassman of Lancaster, OH, brother, Thomas (Joy) Plassman of Columbus, OH, mother-in-law, Rosemary Mehring of Defiance, OH.
He was preceded in death by father, Alfred G. Plassman, mother, Luella E. Panning, & father-in-law, Paul Mehring.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 27, 2015, 2:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home, Inc., Defiance, Ohio, & Thursday, May 28, 2015, 9:00 am - 10:00 am at the church prior to services.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 28, 2015, 10:00 am at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Defiance, Ohio, with Rev. David Brobston, officiating.
Burial will take place in the Riverview Memory Gardens.
