Robert W. Hoschak Sr., age 84 of Defiance, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, May 18, 2022 at CHP Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center. He was born on October 13, 1937 to the late William and Frances (Friend) Hoschak in Defiance County, Ohio. On April 18, 1959 he married Gertrude (Delarber) Hoschak, who preceded him in death on August 1, 2007. Bob was a faithful member of St. Michael's Catholic Church. He worked at Lugbill's in Archbold, Dinner Bell Foods for 28 years, and Sauder Woodworking for 13 years until his retirement. He was also a member of K of C, Defiance Moose, Defiance Eagles, AmVets, and Defiance Co. Coon Hunter's Association. He enjoyed deer hunting, coon hunting, visiting casinos and eating ice cream. He was a huge fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes and Cleveland Indians. Bob was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. He will be greatly missed by his family and many good friends. Bob is survived by his children; Robert (Victoria) Hoschak, Jr. of Defiance, David (Rebecca) Hoschak of Defiance, Michael (Lisa) Hoschak of Wauseon, OH, and Linda Stewart of Defiance, two grandchildren; Holly (Kris) Lymanstall and Ashley (Tyler) Martinez, five great-grandchildren, and his brothers, John (Judy) Hoschak and Richard Hoschak. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Gertrude, and one son-in-law, Henry Stewart. Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 22, 2022 from 2:00 to 8:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance, with a Rosary Service at 2:00 pm. One hour of additional visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 am on Monday before the service at the church. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11:00 am on Monday, May 23, 2022 at St. Michael's Catholic Church, with Fr. Melwin Dsouza officiating. Burial will follow at St. Michael's Catholic Cemetery.
