Robert "Gilly" Guilliam Robert Gene "Gilly" Guilliam, 78, of Defiance, Oh passed away at 4:20 A:M. July,16,2008 in his home. He was born in Defiance, Ohio on November 6, 1929, he was the son of the late Edna M. Guilliam. He was proud to be raised on the city's east side. During his younger days he was affectionately known by family and friendsas "PeeWee." A graduate of Defiance High School in 1947. He played for the Diehl Beer fast pitch softball team and was an avid Detroit Tigers fan. He was a lifelong member of St. John Lutheran Church, where he served as Sunday School teacher, Sunday school superintendent, member of the board of trustees, member of the board of elders, usher and morning ministry volunteer. He served in the U.S. Army from 1947-49.. He was the husband of Marilyn A. (Morris) Guilliam whom he married Feb. 20, 1954 and she survives. He worked as a electrician for over 40 years, including many years at Kaduk Electric in Hicksville. He also ran his own business, Gilly's Electric. Besides his wifes surviving are Daughter(s): Candy (Gene) Leal of Defiance, Oh, Chris (Jack) Palmer of Defiance, Oh, Cindy (Thom) Blake of Defiance, Oh Son(s): Stan (Amy) Guilliam of Defiance, Oh, Ty (Chris) Guilliam of Defiance, Oh Sister: Marilyn Houck of Napoleon, Oh. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by his mother. Religious Service at St. John Lutheran Church 11:00 A:M Friday, July 18th, Defiance, Oh. with Rev. Donald Luhring officiating. Friends are invited to call 5-9 Thursday, July 17 at the Lawson-Roessner Funeral Home. Interment at Riverview Memory Gardens - Defiance, Oh. VFW Post # 3360 will condust military graveside rites. Suggested memorials are to St. John Lutheran church, Defiance County Hospice/the Caring Way or the Association for Retarded Citizens - Good Sam Adult Program.
