Robert "Bob" Liffick age 73, of Defiance, Ohio passed away on Friday, July 19th, 2024 surrounded by family at CHP Inpatient Hospice in Defiance.

Bob was born on June 9, 1951 in Brocton, Illinois to the late Joseph and Clarine Liffick. He was a 1969 graduate of Continental High School.  In December of 1970, he married his high school sweetheart, Janet Schmidt and together they celebrated 53 years of marriage. Bob "Pup" retired from GM after 35 years to pursue his dream job as a babysitter for his beloved grandchildren.

Bob enjoyed golfing, fishing, playing cards, and spending time with his family and friends.  He was notoriously known for his ornery antics, mischievous ways, and animated storytelling. His work ethic was unparalleled, as he always had multiple odd jobs sprinkled throughout his week.  Bob often volunteered his time to help others, but his favorite pastime was attending his grandkids' activities and sporting events.

In 2015, he suffered a debilitating stroke which was followed by countless health issues throughout the rest of his life. Bob was a true fighter, and in spite all of these setbacks, he was able to continue a fulfilling life at home and in the community with the help of his devoted wife.

Bob will be greatly missed by his wife Janet, children Tod (Amy) Liffick, Mindy (Lindsay) Liffick, Grandchildren Wade and Kendall Liffick, all of Defiance. He is also survived by in-laws Linda Liffick, Joan (Denny) Hedrick, John (Tonya) Schmidt all of Continental, Judy (Dave) Rau, Jean (Rob) Carr, all of Defiance and Jim (Karen) Schmidt, of Hicksville, as well as numerous beloved nieces and nephews.

Preceding Bob in death were his parents, parents-in-law, Paul and Marie Jane Schmidt, brothers Jim and Randy, and sister Pansy.

Visitation will be held on Monday, July 22, 2024 from 2-8 p.m. at Schaffer Funeral Home, Jefferson Ave, Defiance.  A Mass of Christian burial will take place on Tuesday, July 23, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, Defiance. Burial will be held at Riverside Cemetery.

Memorials can be made to St. Mary's Food Pantry or Good Samaritan School.
