Robert G Diamond, 84, of Defiance, passed away on  Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at Promedica Defiance Regional Hospital.

He was born on January 11, 1929 to Emery and Frances Ruby (Merz) Diamond.  On September 12, 1956 he married Wanda McClish and she preceded him in death on August 5, 1993.

Robert was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, a life member of VFW Post 3360, Amvets, and a former member of the Elks. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War.  He worked for the Toledo Edison Gas Company 37 years retiring in 1987.  Robert enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, playing cards, fishing, mowing grass, going to casinos and playing lottery games.

He is survived by his daughters, Roberta (David) Vogelsong of Defiance, Liz (Chuck) Mack of Defiance, Deadra (Doug) Smay of Defiance, sons, Mickey Kizer of Defiance, Robert (Kathi) Diamond Jr. of Murrells Inlet, SC, 13 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, sisters, Gertrude Becher of Defiance, Ruth Christman of Defiance, and son-in-law, Kevin Zeller of Defiance.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Wanda, daughter, Laenette Zeller, brothers, Emery "Sonny" Diamond, Jr., Walter "Bud" Diamond, sister, Frances Murphy, and a granddaughter, Susan Vogelsong.

Funeral services will be held at 2:oo p.m.  Saturday, May 4, 2013, at Trinity United Methodist Church with Rev. Joe Graves officiating.  Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery where military honors will be accorded by VFW Post 3360.  Visitation will be held from 2-8 p.m. Friday at Schaffer Funeral Home and an hour of visitation from 1-2 p.m. Saturday at the church.

The family suggest memorials be made to the church or to a charity of the donor's choice
