Robert  H. "Bud" Cereghin Jr., age 84, peacefully passed away on Wednesday afternoon, October 25, 2023 at his home in Defiance, surrounded by his family. He was born on February 22, 1939 to Salome (Gustwiller) and Robert H. Cereghin Sr. in Defiance, Ohio. Bud was a 1957 graduate of Defiance High School. On October 17, 1959 he married Joan Mansfield, who preceded him in death on January 11, 2015. Bud was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Defiance. He worked for the City of Defiance as a Building Inspector for 13 years, retiring in 2001. He was a talented carpenter and took great pride in his work. He was very proud of his children and their accomplishments. Bud was a devoted family man and cherished his time spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Bud is survived by his sons; Robert P. (Sheri) Cereghin and Ronald L. (Cindy) Cereghin, all of Defiance, five grandchildren; Holli (Eric) Squires, Abbi Cereghin, Dillon (Chelsea) Cereghin, Lincoln (Nichole) Cereghin and Allison (Serapio) Gonzales, all of Defiance, and eight great-grandchildren; Hailey, Luke, Honor, Briggs, Madeline, Camille, Leo and Jaxson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Joan Cereghin, his brother, David Cereghin, and two sisters, Marilyn Steffens and Sue Ankney. Visitation will be held on Monday, October 30, 2023 from 2:00 to 7:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. A funeral service to celebrate his life will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, October 31, 2023 at Schaffer Funeral Home, with Pastor Kurt Mews officiating.
