Robert "Bob"  E. Kubica, 74, of Defiance, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at CHP Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center. He was born on November 29, 1943 to Leo and Martha (Kohaney) Kubica in Bay City, Michigan. On June 27, 1961 he married Kay (Cannon) Kubica, who resides in Defiance. Bob proudly served our country in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1961 to 1965. He worked as a Millwright at General Motors for over 35 years until his retirement in 2000. Bob was a member of St. John Catholic Church, The Marine Corps League, the Defiance Pigeon Club, and was a life member of VFW #3360 and AMVETS #1991. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, racing pigeons, and playing his guitar. His greatest joy was spending time with his family. Bob will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 56 years, Kay Kubica of Defiance, daughters, Terri (Tony) Meyer of Sherwood, and Tracy (Robert) Stuart of Waterford, MI, son, Robert (Jannette) Kubica of Defiance, grandchildren; Nicholas Guelde, Justin Guelde, Chase Meyer, Tiffany Wade Barnes, Tyler Wade, Ryan Stuart, R.J. Stuart, Ned Kubica, Amanda Flathers, Stephany Burdue, Kaylee Davis, and Todd Kubica, and 12 great grandchildren. He also leaves behind four sisters; Jackie Singleton of Nolensville, TN, Mary Lou Jones of Deland, FL, Dorothy Doolittle of Phoenix, AZ, and Diane Stemen of Defiance. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Marcia Imthurn, and grandson, Joshua Wade. Visitation will be held from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm on Sunday, May 13, 2018 at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance, with an AMVETS Service at 6:30 pm. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, May 14, 2018 at Schaffer Funeral Home, with Pastor Larry Kennedy officiating. Burial will follow the service at Riverview Memory Gardens, with military graveside rites accorded by VFW #3360. Memorials are suggested to CHP Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center.
