Robert P. Barton, 73, of Defiance, passed away on Thursday, December 14, 2017 at the CHP Defiance Area Hospice Inpatient Center.

He was born on July 2, 1944 to Marion and Margaret (McKelleps) Barton in Defiance, OH.  Robert worked as a Laborer for John-Manville Corp. On May 1, 1965 he married Roberta Healy, who preceded him in death October 27, 2015.

Robert worked as a Laborer for John-Manville Corp. and served his country in the US Army from 1961 - 1964.  He was a member of member of VFW Post 3360, Defiance Eagles, and Defiance Moose.  Robert also enjoyed Honda Motorcycles, NASCAR, fishing, and photography.

Robert is survived by his 2 daughters, Deb (Dennis) Vajen of Defiance, OH, and Dawn (Eric) Fox of Bryan, OH, 2 Grandchildren, a brother, Greg Barton of Napoleon, OH, and a sister, Margaret Wobbler of Defiance, OH.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Roberta Barton, 4 Brothers, 2 Sisters, 2 Nephews, a Brother-in-law, and a Sister-in-law.

Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, December 19, 2017, 1:00 pm at the Riverside Cemetery, Defiance, Ohio, with Deb Miller, officiating.  Military honors will be conducted by VFW Post 3360.

Schaffer Funeral Home, Defiance OH, was in charge of assisting the family.

Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society's Williams County Relay for Life.
