Rickie G. Whatman, 73, of Defiance, passed away on Tuesday, May 5, 2026 at Brookview Healthcare Center in Defiance after battling cancer.

He was born in Mansfield, Ohio on May 23, 1952, the son of the late Eugene and Patricia Whatman. Rickie was a member of Defiance Moose Lodge #2094. He worked at several different jobs over the years, most recently at Short Stop where he enjoyed helping customers and making friends with everyone.

Rickie will be sadly missed by his companion of 34 years, Patti Goodwin, and his daughters Jennifer (Jeff) Davis and Patti Mobley, all of Defiance, and his son Rick Whatman of Michigan. He also leaves behind his sister Linda (Mike) Mack, brother Steve Whatman, four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and his pets.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one grandchild.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 10, 2026 from 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance.
