Richard "Sonny" L. Miller
Richard "Sonny" L. Miller, 84, of Defiance, passed away Wednesday, May 23rd, 2012 at CHP Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center.
He was born in Hicksville, Oh on January 21, 1928, he was the son of the late Ora O. and Mary G. (Grabill) Miller.
He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church and a 1947 graduate of Hicksville High School.
He served in the U.S. Army in the Korean War in the transportation division of the 101st airborne as convoy commander in Korea. On March 18, 1951, he married Norma Link.
He worked as a machinist at Defiance Precision Products for over 30 years retiring in 1993.
He was a retired Defiance School Bus driver and formerly owned and operated Rural Milk Trucks- hauling for Defiance Milk Products and Bordens. A member of the AMVETS, VFW Post #3360, the VFW Funeral Detail Honor Guard and served as a UAW Steward. He had enjoyed singing with his brothers as the Miller Boys, playing the Hawaiian guitar and singing Karaoke. Richard liked many things including, classic cars, car shows, traveling, the ocean, nature, family trips but mainly enjoyed time with his family.
He will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 61 years, Norma;
son: Ronald (Raye) Miller of Woodstock , GA.
daughters: Pamela Wiseman of Woodstock, GA., Angela Miller of Las Vegas. NV., Annette Miller of Defiance
sister: Patricia (Don) Ayers of Dadeville, AL.
brother: Marvin Miller of Hicksville.
He is also survived by 5 grandchildren: Chadwick Wiseman, Aimee McDonald, Genay Miller, Amanda Miller and David Miller and 3 great grandchildren.
Preceded in death by brothers: Ora Miller and Harold Miller and his parents.
Private services for the family will be at Lawson-Roessner Funeral Home with Rev. Donald Luhring officiating.
Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery where VFW Post # 3360 will conduct honorary military rites,
