Richard "Dick" Steven Sabo, 81, Defiance, Ohio, died Saturday, November 1, 2014, at Toledo Hospital, with his family at his side.

He was born on August 21, 1933 to Steve and Beulah (Kochel) Sabo in Defiance, OH. On September 14, 1956 he married Darlene Hussey. Dick and Darlene lived in Defiance, Ohio.

Dick retired from Johns Manville in 1975. He also drove a semi for Hornish Brothers trucking, enjoyed racing stock cars at Taylor Racetrack, and rooting for Sam Hornish Racing.

Dick is survived by his loving spouse of 58 years, Darlene Sabo of Defiance, OH, daughters, Gaye (John) Schaufele of Evansport, OH, Terri (Dick) Aschemier of Napoleon, OH, Beverly Meine of Defiance, OH, Lisa Beauprez of Defiance, OH, his son, Steve (Kris) Sabo of Definace, OH, 12 grandchildren, & 10 great-grandchildren (with one more on the way).

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Bob Sabo, a sister in infancy.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, November 5, 2014, 2:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home, Inc., Defiance, Ohio.

Military Honors will be accorded by VFW Post 3360 at 4:00 PM on Wednesday, November 5, 2014, with a brief prayer service following. Visitation will resume immediately after the services.

Interment will take place at Evansport Cemetery at a later date.
