Richard P. Shininger, 66, of Defiance, passed away on Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at Defiance Regional Medical Center.
He was born on March 2, 1949 to Paul and Rita (Willitzer) Shininger in Defiance. Richard was a graduate of Paulding High School in 1967. On November 12, 1977 he married Barbara (Kemerer) Shininger, who resides in Defiance. Richard served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, serving in Germany. He worked at General Motors for 32 years, retiring in 2001. Richard dedicated his life to helping others.
Richard will be sadly missed by his loving spouse of 38 years, Barbara Shininger of Defiance, sons, Ben Shininger, Dan Shininger, and Jake Shininger, all living at home, Honorary Daughter, Tammy Grant, Special Friend, Karter, who always will refer to Dick as "PaPaw", brothers, Tony (Beth) Shininger, Bill (Carolyn) Shininger, and Allen Shininger, sisters, Rose Rodney, Connie (Joe) Adams, and Roxie (Bob) Timbrook.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Rita Shininger.
Per his request there will be no visitation, and a private graveside service to be held at Riverside Cemetery in Defiance.
Memorials are suggested to Trinity Place, Bryan, Ohio, in care of Filling Home, to assist those with special needs.
