Richard C. Shawver, Sr., 70, of Defiance, passed away with his family by his side on Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at Flower Hospital, Toledo, Ohio.

He was born on August 24, 1944 to Donald and Eileen (Hammons) Shawver in Defiance, Ohio. On July 17, 1965 he married Judy (Dodson) Shawver, who survives. Richard worked as a Millwright at General Motors for 37 years, retiring in 1995. He was a member of the Defiance Eagles #372, and UAW #211.  He loved watching sports.

Richard is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Judy Shawver of Defiance, sons, Richard (Kimberly) Shawver, Jr. of  Plymouth, Michigan, and Daniel Shawver, Sr. of Defiance, Grandchildren, Lauren, Haley, Alexis, Daniel Jr., and Noah, sisters, Lois (Larry) Bauer of Ayersville, and Debra Simonis of Defiance.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Eileen Shawver, and sister, Ruth Ann Grimes.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 6:00 pm on Sunday, March 1, 2015 at Schaffer Funeral Home, Defiance, where funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, March 2, 2015, with Pastor Eric Peltz officiating. Burial will follow at Junction Cemetery.
