Richard (Dick) C. Steingass Richard (Dick) C. Steingass, 61, of Defiance, died suddenly Saturday, October 19th, 2013 in his home of natural causes. He was born in Defiance, Ohio on March 5, 1952, he was the son of the late George E. Steingass Jr. and Marjorie J. (Weber) Steingass. Dick was a lifetime member of St. John Catholic Church, a 1970 graduate of Ayersville High School, a lifetime resident of Defiance County and a member of the St. Michael's golf league. Dick was a self employed carpenter and he walked in the footsteps of his Dad as a carpenter. Surviving are five sisters; Connie (Rick) Moffitt of Defiance, Carolyn (John) Heilman of Defiance, Anne Marie (Alan) Martin of Archbold, Linda (Thomas) Layne of Defiance, Shirley (Mark) McCombs of Ft. Wayne a brother Alan (Darlene) Steingass of Defiance. A close friend and cousin Tom Weber. 17 nieces and nephews and 27 great nieces and great nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at St. John Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 24th, with Father Todd Dominique officiating. Visitation is Wednesday night from 6-8 p.m. at Lawson-Roessner Funeral Home and Thursday morning from 9-11 at St. John Catholic Church. There will be an 8:00 p.m. Vigil Service Wednesday at Lawson-Roessner. Burial services will be private. Suggested memorials are to the family.
