Richard H. Beatty
Richard H. Beatty, 93, of Defiance, passed away at Tuesday, April 19th, 2011 at Mercy Hospital of Defiance.
He was born in Defiance, Ohio on August 7, 1917, he was the son of the late George B. and Elsie M. (Hughes) Beatty.
He was a member of St. John Catholic Church and American Legion Post # 117.
Richard served three years in the U.S. Army during World War II, two years in Europe where he received a Battle Field commission. He was recalled to duty in 1950 during the Korean War and served with the 21st Infantry Division where he was awarded the Silver Star for Valor. He served as a 1st Lieutenant in the Infantry.
He married Rita E. (Justinger) Beatty Sept. 24,1947 and she died April 25, 2000.
In 1982 he retired as Assistant to the President of Defiance Screw Machine, where he was employed for 33 years.
Surviving are a son: Richard (Gina) Beatty II of Defiance
and a granddaughter Kristin.
He was preceded in death by his wife Rita and a sister Janice Martin.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 25, at St. John Catholic Church with Father George Wenzinger officiating.
Visitation will be Saturday from 4-8 and 10:00 -10:40 a.m. Monday morning at the Lawson-Roessner Funeral Home. A rosary will be recited at 6:45 p.m Saturday.
Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery where VFW Post # 3360 will conduct honorary military graveside rites.
