Rene Salinas, age 53 of Defiance, passed away on Saturday, February 18, 2023 at ProMedica Defiance Hospital.

He was born on September 27, 1969 to the late Pascuala (Salinas) Rubio in Defiance, Ohio. Rene worked at several area factories, and most recently at Marshall's and Defiance Area YMCA. He was a member of VFW Post #3360. Rene was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan and loved collecting Steelers memorabilia and knives. He enjoyed camping and listening to music. Rene loved his family above all, and he cherished his time spent with them and his nieces and nephews. Rene will be sadly missed by his son, Rudy Alex Salinas of Defiance, three brothers, John (Sylvia) Salinas of Van Wert, Jerry (Tina) Salinas of Archbold, and Tom (Julie) Salinas of Defiance, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Pascuala Rubio, who passed away just three days prior, his father Rudolfo Garza, and stepfather, Daniel Rubio. A Memorial Service was held on Monday, February 20, 2023 at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. with Pastor Vincent Cantu officiating. Memorials are suggested to Diabetes Foundation.
