Reda C. Helton, age 84 of Evansport, passed away on Tuesday, January 14, 2025 at Brookview Healthcare Center in Defiance, Ohio, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Richmond, Virginia on July 4, 1940 to Lester and Margaret Eva (Solomon) Hughes. Reda was a 1958 graduate of Pikeville High School. On February 5, 1960 she married Foye Helton who preceded her in death in July, 1996. Reda worked for 28 years at LaChoy Foods until her retirement in 1998 and was a former member of Evansport Fox Club. She enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, crafts, ceramics, canning, mowing and being outdoors. Reda loved taking bus trips to the casino with her girlfriends. She treasured her time spent with her grandchildren whom she loved dearly. Reda will be missed by all who knew her, especially her little dog Tilly. Reda is survived by her sons, Dave (Jill) Helton and John Helton, all of Defiance, three grandsons, Chad (Andrea) Helton, Jordan Helton and Casey (Lauren) Helton, 4 great-grandchildren, Blake, Gunner, Lindy and Baylor, sister-in-law EllaMae Rodi, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Foye Helton, Sister Trula, and Brother Delano. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 17, 2025 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. A funeral service will immediately follow at 1:00 pm at the funeral home, with Celebrant Deb Miller officiating. Reda will be laid to rest in Evansport Cemetery.
