With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Rebecca "Becky" Wagner, who peacefully passed away at the age of 76 in The Villages Florida.
She was a devoted wife, a loving mother, a cherished grandmother, and a loyal friend whose life was marked by unwavering faith, quiet strength, and selfless love. She spent her life putting others before herself, always offering comfort, encouragement, and a helping hand to anyone in need.
Throughout her life, she endured unimaginable loss with remarkable grace. She experienced the heartbreaking deaths of two of her children at young ages, later lost her beloved husband after 45 of marriage, and eventually said goodbye to her parents and many dear friends. Yet despite these profound sorrows, she never allowed bitterness to define her. Instead, she chose compassion over despair, gratitude over complaint, and hope over hardship.
Those who knew her will remember her warm smile, gentle spirit, and contagious laugh. She had an extraordinary gift for making others feel loved and cared for. She was often the caregiver, the encourager, and the one people could depend on during difficult times. She rarely asked for help herself, believing instead that her greatest purpose was to serve others.
Her greatest joy was her family. The values she instilled-faith, perseverance, generosity, and unconditional love-will continue to live on in the lives of those she leaves behind.
Though our hearts are broken by her passing, we find comfort knowing she has been reunited with her husband, her children who preceded her in death, her parents, and the many loved ones who have gone before her. Her earthly journey was one of incredible faithfulness, and we rejoice in the promise that she is now at peace in the presence of her Savior.
She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
“Well done, good and faithful servant.” - Matthew 25:23
She is survived by her son, Thomas Wagner, grandsons, Nathan and Corey Wagner, great-granddaughter, Eliana Wagner, and brothers, Fred Squires and Tom Squires.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dennis Wagner, two children, Chad and Kelly Wagner, her parents, Richard and Geneva Squires, and brother, Ron Squires.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 6, 2026 from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, August 7th at the funeral home, with Pastor Todd Squires officiating. Rebecca will be laid to rest in Riverside Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to VFW Post #3360 in Defiance Ohio, honoring the same spirit of love and service that defined her life. Online condolences can be given at www.Schafferfh.com.
