Raymond B. Stearns
Raymond B. Stearns, 55, of Tiffin, Ohio passed away suddenly Tuesday, October 8th, 2013 at his home.
He was born in Napoleon, Ohio on March 19, 1958, he was the son of the late Paul and Geneva (Hoover) Stearns who survives him of Defiance, Ohio.
Ray was a 1976 graduate of Defiance High School, obtained his BA degree from Muskegon College and his Masters from Bowling Green University. He taught in several school districts including Wayne Trace, Marion Harding, North Dakota High School in Green Springs, IN, Nashville High School in Nashville, IN. He was presently teaching at Tiffin Calvert High School in Tiffin, OH where he spent the last 16 years sharing his love for his students while he guided them through the sciences and math. He had a passion for chemistry and physics. He enjoyed bird watching and lighthouses. Ray was not only their teacher but their friend. At Tiffin Calvert he was involved with the National Honor Society, Quiz Bowl advisor and the best volunteer a school could wish for.
Ray will be greatly missed by his mother Geneva Stearns of Defiance,
Sisters: Rebecca (Larry) Simpson of Hager Hill, Ky., Rosemary (Ed) Ratajczak of Maumee, Ohio, Rita (Reggie) Gehrke of Brooklyn, Minnesota
Brothers: Robert (Connie) Stearns of Defiance, Randall Stearns of Defiance.
Also surviving are his nieces and nephews who he loved as his own children. He will also be missed by his beloved Calvert family.

He was preceded in death by his father Paul Stearns and grandparents.
Services will be at the Lawson-Roessner Funeral Home 1753 S. Clinton St., Defiance, Oh. at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 12th, with Rev. Mike Lashaway officiating.
Visitation will be Friday 2-8 and Saturday before services at Lawson-Roessner Funeral Home.
Burial will be at a later date in Monroe Cemetery, Continental, OH.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made in his honor to Tiffin Calvert High School. Condolences may be shared at www.defiancefuneralhome.com.
