Ralph L. Hutchinson Ralph L. Hutchinson, 92, of Defiance, passed away Saturday, June 3rd, 2017 at St. Vincent Medical Heart Center. He was born in Defiance, Ohio on April 28, 1925, he was the son of the late Ralph B. and Frances (Fillman) Hutchinson. Ralph was a graduate of Defiance High School, a lifetime member of St. John United Church of Christ and the oldest member of the church. He served in the U.S. Army in WW II serving in France and Germany. A lifetime member of Defiance VFW Post #3360, the American Legion and a VFW Honor Guard Member. He was in the National Guard for 30 years. Ralph had a great devotion to the military and to his church. He was friend to everyone. He had worked as a truck driver at United Trucking. Ralph married Vera (English) Hutchinson July 14, 1964 and she died December 28, 1996. He will be greatly missed by daughters: Becky (Corey) Manley of Defiance, Betty (Clifford) Flanagan of Ft. Wayne son: Ralph Hutchinson of Irvine, California. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren :Nick Markowski, Ed Markowski, Mike Markowski, Jai Markowski, Noah Hutchinson, Eden Hutchinson, Ellie Manley, 8 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother Dwight and a sister Joyce Schackow. Services at St. John United Church of Christ at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 6th, with Rev. James Brehler officiating. Visitation is Monday 2-8 p.m. at Lawson-Roessner Funeral Home and Tuesday 10-11 a.m. at St. John United Church of Christ. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery where VFW Post #3360 will conduct honorary military graveside rites. Suggested memorials are to the church or the donor's choice.
