Phyllis J. Bussing, age 75 of Defiance, passed away on Saturday, September 24, 2022 at  Kingsbury Place in Defiance. She was born on January 21, 1947 to the late Burl and Dorothy (Wimberley) Lawson in Hartville, Missouri. On June 9, 1963 she married William Bussing Sr., who preceded her in death on May 19, 1997. Her world revolved around her family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed gardening, raking leaves, decorating her home, and watching HGTV.

Phyllis will be sadly missed by her sons, William (Christel) Bussing, Jr. and Eric (Tira) Bussing, all of Defiance, her daughters, Leslie (Michael) Guilliam of Defiance, and Stacy (Kenneth) Fraley of Hicksville, OH, 15 grandchildren, and 22 great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind her brothers, Jimmie  Lawson, Robert (Susan) Lawson, Guy (Barb) Lawson, and Jack Lawson, and her sisters, Freda Fleetwood and Carol Medina. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband William, and two sisters, Onita Bussing and Doris Lawson. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 29, 2022 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. A funeral service to celebrate her life will follow at 12:00 pm at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to ELARA Hospice, or Parkinson's Research Foundation.
