Philip W. "Bud" Schaufele, 75, of Defiance, went peacefully to his heavenly home on Thursday, October 22, 2015 at CHP Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center.
He was born on March 15, 1940 to the late Robert and Ruth (Potts) Schaufele. On November 28, 1980 he married Martha "Marty" (Friedricksen Winn) Schaufele in Las Vegas, Nevada. Marty resides in Defiance. Philip was a member of LLC and the Defiance Eagles 147. In 1959 he was diagnosed with MS, and during his 55 years of enduring this disease, he traveled to Kenya, Alaska, and to California twice by train to visit his long time friend, retired General Larry "Gut" Livingston. Phil was an avid fan of all sports. He set a record in Little League Baseball by throwing only three pitches and retiring the first three batters. He enjoyed many years of playing poker with his friends. His wish is to let all who have been diagnosed with MS to remain strong, exercise daily, keep up the fight, and live a full life as he had.
Philip is survived by his loving spouse of 35 years, Martha Schaufele, sisters Judy (Jerry) Mekus of Sherwood, and Carolyn (Jim) MacMillan of Stratford, Ontario, Canada, nephews Joel and Ryan, and niece Nicole, and his loving kitty "Elkee" whom he rescued.
